A Mild Winter Day (White-crowned Sparrow at Sturdivant Park, Coquille, OR)

A Mild Winter Day is based on a scene in Sturdivant Park, a favorite birding spot of mine next to the Coquille River.  The river banks are lined with a variety of trees and bushes, providing attractive habitat for all sorts of birds in all seasons.  We are fortunate to enjoy White-crowned Sparrows year-round in this area.  The Saunders Waterford paper I used for this watercolor painting helped create the soft, warm light behind this beautiful bird.

This painting was juried into Expressions West 2021.

A Mild Winter Day has been accepted into the Emerald Spring National Exhibition and has received the Achievement Award. Please see my Events page for details.
